Text Box: Concept: Collective intelligence. The Wikipedia project is a user written, multilingual, Web-based, free-content encyclopedia project. Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers. Visitors write articles that cover existing knowledge. Articles can be edited by anyone. Substandard or disputed information is subject to removal. Over 1500 administrators with special powers ensure that behavior conforms to guidelines and policies.  Wikipedia is built on open source wiki software which is available, at no cost, to anyone who wants to serve a wiki for any purpose.
